There are now three flags flying at Wongaburra

January 29, 2019

Beside the path into Reception the Australian and Queensland Flags have been flying proudly for many years. One of our residents has taken on the responsibility of raising the flags each morning and as per the requirements for flags, they are taken down by a staff member before dusk.

There will be times when you will notice that our flags are flying at half mast. This is just one of the ways we show respect  when any of our residents pass.

There are three flag poles and it was always intended that the third pole would be the home of our Indigenous Flag.

So it was with much excitement that last week a small group of Elders from the Mununjali People came to Wongaburra and in a brief ceremony the Indigenous Flag  was raised for the first time at Wongaburra and now joins the Australian and Queensland Flags.
