Nature has decided to remind us all that February is still Summer in Australia, with Beaudesert and surrounds experiencing hot and humid days and nights.
Thankfully all resident areas in the facility are air conditioned to ensure their comfort.
With the exception of the folding area in the Laundry, which has an evaporative cooler, all staff areas are also air condiitioned.
Naturally the temperatures set for the air conditioning do not always suit everyone but we run the equipment at a temperature which suits most and is the best both economically and environmentally.
Of course, staff, residents and their families can still sit outside in the Cafe, and Courtyards. These Courtyards are full of flowers and interesting garden features, and we encourage our residents and their guests to spend time there.
Last year a donkey and other animals visited one of our Courtyards, to give our residents an opportunity to pat and spend time with animals they may have worked with in the past.
Even with air conditioning it is still very important to us that we keep a close eye on our residents to ensure they drink enough. We have a Hot Weather Policy to ensure that all residents and staff are well hydrated. This applies not only here on site but also when on outings, and is reviewed each year as part of our document control process.
So it might be hot outside, but here at Wongaburra, all our residents and staff are cool and comfortable every day and night.
