Most of the staff at Wongaburra have been here quite a while and there have been many changes over time.
One of these is new processes or systems.
One of these is a computer program which manages nearly every aspect of the operation of the centre.
It has been here for several years, but is only now that it is becoming used to it's full capacity. Of course there are teething problems but it is getting there.
However, it does not matter how good any system is if the staff are not on board with it.
After all any business is only as good as it's staff.
This brilliant system manages our Human Resources, Maintenance, Payroll and Resident Management amongst other important tasks. One of the very useful features is an electronic type of diary that allows all staff to be able to communicate with each other across all shifts and areas using the computers.
Some staff are not regular users of computers, so it has been a dramatic change for a few.
The marvellous thing is that everyone has stepped up and the Day Book is being successfully used everywhere. This has taken a while, but is now just part of their daily routine.
Another feature of this system is the Dietary Alerts, which tells staff what changes have been made to resident's dietary sheets, including issues like texture changes and allergies. It has made sure that the staff in each of the Serveries are providing food which is both safe and suitable. The regular audits we are doing of these Dietary Sheets show that the system is working very well.
As Wongaburra is approaching it's 50th Anniversary, the only thing which is constant, and has been since we started, is that our focus is, and always will be, our residents, even though staff, equipment and systems change.
