One sign of a happy and productive workplace is staff retention and turnaround.
Most of Wongaburra's staff (45 percent) have been here for at least five years.
Wongaburra is very proud that there are six staff who have been here caring for our residents for more than 20 years.
What is even more impressive,we have two who have been here for more than 30 years.
These two have seen a lot of changes at Wongaburra over that time and, indeed, within our community.
With 17 percent of the staff having been part of the team for at least 10 years, it is definitely a sign of a happy workplace. The feedback that we get from residents and their families reflects this with comments about how friendly and happy the staff are and how willing to help.
A staff member coming up for her 29th anniversary said that she left high school and came right here, and has been here ever since. She said that while there have been many changes, the one thing that has been constant is that the residents are the number one priority.
There have been many changes in management, buildings, procedures and laws during those 30 years, but at all times all staff want to make the lives of the residents as comfortable, happy and enriching as possible.
Wongaburra is rapidly approaching it's 50th birthday and although there are no staff here now from the beginning, there will definitely be former staff coming back for the party. Keep an eye on this Blog and the sign out the front for details about it.
